Sealcoat & Road Slurry

Paving

Asphalt is a safe and durable surface, but it is not impervious to damage. Regularly checking the condition of your asphalt and performing regular maintenance are crucial for getting the most out of your investment. Coupled with crack repair, applying sealcoat is ideal for maintaining parking lots, private roads, and driveways. When it comes to streets, road slurry extends the life of any road.

SEALCOAT

Applying sealcoat is the best way to seal the surface of the asphalt, keep the elements out and prevent premature aging. Sealcoat is a mix of oils, small sand and other particles to fill surface voids and create a barrier for surface protection. At J&S Asphalt, we recommend sealing your asphalt every couple of years for maximum protection. Not only does sealcoat improve the expected life of your asphalt, but it also gives it a fresh-paved look.

Usually done in tandem with a sealcoat, fixing cracks will extend the life of asphalt. Long, singular cracks can be filled with hot or cold rubber. Cracks that form a network are called alligator cracks. In that case we'll need to remove and replace the asphalt before we apply the sealcoat. Our estimators will explain what your asphalt needs and work with you to develop a plan to keep your asphalt as a durable and reliable surface.

ROAD SLURRY

Used mostly on roads, slurry can help city and county municipalities or HOAs extend the life of their roadways. Road slurry adds another wear surface on top of existing asphalt, waterproofs the roadway and it helps fill small surface voids and cracks. Slurry is ideal for high traffic roadways.

Types of road slurry

  • Type I- used to fill surface voids, this type of slurry has the smallest aggregate mixture to help penetrate and seal cracks.
  • Type II-used to fill and seal surface voids, this type of slurry addresses more severe asphalt distress. This aggregate mixture is larger and is the most common type of slurry used on roadways
  • Type III-the most coarse aggregate mixture of the three types of slurry, this type is best suited for high-traffic roadways
